Living with Acid Reflux: My Story and What Helped

Terrahealth Essentials!

Around 10 years ago, I started struggling with acid reflux and heartburn. I always thought heartburn was something that happened to older people, so experiencing intense symptoms at just 17 years old was confusing and frustrating. It affected how I felt physically, reduced my appetite, impacted my mood, and made it harder to enjoy everyday life. At that age, I didn’t really know how to approach it or what to do next.

I eventually started taking a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) to manage the symptoms. At first, it worked well. As long as I was taking it, I rarely experienced heartburn. Sometimes I would even increase the dosage before eating a larger meal or foods I thought might trigger symptoms. But over time, I started to realize I didn’t want to rely on medication for the rest of my life. It felt like it was masking the issue rather than addressing the root cause.

Eventually, I saw a specialist and had an endoscopy done, which showed significant inflammation in my esophagus. I was given something to help reduce the inflammation, but the overall recommendation was simply to stay on the PPI. I was also told to stop eating pizza and junk food, with the assumption that because I was in college, that must have been the cause. I tried explaining that I actually cared a lot about my health and wasn’t eating that way regularly, but I didn’t feel heard. That experience was frustrating because I was looking for real answers, not assumptions or a quick prescription.

A few years later, I started researching PPIs and the potential long-term risks of staying on them indefinitely. While I understood that unmanaged reflux also isn’t healthy, I became concerned about the idea of depending on medication forever. I sought another medical opinion, but once again, the solution was simply to continue taking the same PPI. That didn’t sit right with me. I wanted to feel like my concerns were being taken seriously and that someone was helping me solve the problem—not just manage it.

I began exploring natural approaches and tried things like aloe vera shots, DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice), D-Limonene, and other remedies. Nothing seemed to make much of a difference. On top of that, when I tried to stop the PPI abruptly, the rebound reflux was unbearable. It was the worst heartburn I had ever experienced, and eventually I went back on the medication for another year because I didn’t think I could handle symptoms that severe.

Still, I knew I wanted another option. After more research, I came across TerraHealth Essentials and their acid reflux kit, which had helped many people transition off PPIs. They provided step-by-step guidance for gradually tapering off the medication while introducing their supplements. For me, it made a huge difference. The process felt manageable, my symptoms improved, and I finally felt like I was supporting healing instead of just covering up symptoms.

I’ve kept their supplements on hand for the past few years and have been really happy with them. I don’t need to take them daily anymore because I’ve learned my trigger foods and other factors that can cause flare-ups. But I still keep them around for times when symptoms pop up or if I choose to eat something I know might bother me. Their Reflux Inhibitor has been helpful for prevention, and their Acid Relief supplement has helped when symptoms do come on.

If you struggle with acid reflux or heartburn, these supplements may be worth looking into. They may not work for everyone, and everyone’s situation is different, but they made a major difference for me.
